Why Mentors Matter?
Statistical Analysis:
- The most vulnerable population in our country right now is young people.
- 1 in 3 kids don’t have a positive mentor in their life.
- When a kid is mentored from 30 years of data and study their 20% more likely to go to college
- They generate 15% more earnings across their career
- They close the economic gap essentially if their low income between them and their more well-off mentor.
- Keeps young men from getting incarcerated.
- Keeps young men from being in trouble.
- Keeps young men from substance abuse.
- Keeps young men from skipping school.
Not too big and not too overwhelming.
Expectations:
When they walk through the door, they are going to be challenged. They are going to be stretched mentally. The words I don’t know will not be accepted because they do know and they can figure it out. If they don’t know, who should we ask? They will be held accountable for their actions and decisions. They will tell the truth. They will be supported. They will have resources like mentors, mentees, and outlets to help them navigate difficult and challenging situations both at school and at home.
